The Arts
Arts and culture are part of what makes Lorne a great place to live or visit. Friends of Lorne have a tradition of supporting the Lorne Sculpture Exhibition, held every two years. In 2022 we jointly funded the People’s Choice Award with Friends of Lorne member, Karen Pitt.
Prior to our AGM in 2020, Friends of Lorne member Graeme Wilkie OAM gave a talk, outlining the history of the arts in Lorne and the role of (the very beautiful) Qdos gallery in that history.
Graeme made the statue of the swimmers, Cora and Lyn, at the bottom of Otway Street.
The Friends of Lorne supported the Christos Poetry Prize for a number of years, celebrating Christos Raskatos our poet fisherman and fishmonger. The prize now continues as part of a program of poetry writing at Lorne P-12 School.
